Mission

The global landscape of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning is rapidly evolving, and Latin America and Mexico are emerging as pivotal players. This dynamic region, rich in diverse talent and innovative spirit, is increasingly contributing to cutting-edge advancements and solutions in the AI/ML space.

Our expert panelists will address the opportunities and challenges faced by Latin American and Mexican AI/ML companies, discussing strategies for scaling internationally, attracting investment, and fostering collaborative partnerships. Furthermore, we will explore actionable pathways to elevate the international profile of Latin American and Mexican AI/ML expertise, solidifying their reputation as Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) and leaders in this transformative field.

During this social, we’ll feature invited talks from prominent LatinX in AI community members and host roundtable discussions facilitating conversations among attendees.

Panelists

  • Andres Munoz Medina

    I am an Engineering Manager and Site Lead for Chrome Mexico City. In my career at Google I have been a Research Scientist tackling foundational problems in algorithmic game theory and machine learning; a lead Data Scientist quantifying and improving privacy for Chrome and Android users and now an engineer leading the accessibility team in Mexico city. I love the technical challenges that come with working at a tech company like Google but above I love being able to impact the lives of so many people with our products. 

  • Ivete Sánchez Bravo

    I work at the Center for Research in Mathematics (CIMAT), where I lead technological projects in collaboration with public and private sectors. My expertise lies in the application of artificial intelligence, mathematical computing, and information technologies. I have served as Coordinator of Technological Services at CIMAT, Manager of the CONAHCyT Artificial Intelligence Consortium, and currently, I am the Secretary of Outreach for the Mexican Mathematical Society. Additionally, I serve as an ambassador for global initiatives such as Women in AI, Women in Data Science, and Women Techmakers.

  • Adrian Sanchez Castro

    Adrián Sánchez-Castro is the founder of Semantiks, Latin America’s first startup specializing in generative AI for large-scale conversational experiences.

    Previously, he was a Product Manager at Cohere, one of the world’s leading AI labs, where he oversaw APIs and SDKs and led the launch of Summarize, an advanced generative AI model for text summarization.

    He also worked in the Conversational AI team at Walmart US as Product Manager and Data Engineer, developing multilingual classification models and data architectures for human-feedback retraining. Earlier, he was part of Jetblack (later acquired by Walmart), a pioneer in conversational commerce, and served as a Data Science consultant in Mexico’s Institute of Analytics. From 2015–2018, he was a Manager in Mexico’s National Digital Strategy, advising public digitalization initiatives in the office of the President.
